Who We Are
Maryland Pop Warner is part of the Pop Warner Little Scholars tradition of providing young people with structured opportunities to participate in football, cheer and dance while emphasizing academics, sportsmanship, safety, teamwork and character.
Our work is community-centered. We seek to connect families to organized youth sports, strengthen local programs, support coaches and volunteers, and create positive experiences that help young people grow on and off the field.

MISSION & HISTORY
The Legacy Behind the Name
Pop Warner History
Pop Warner Little Scholars was founded in 1929 by Joseph J. Tomlin and has grown into one of the best-known youth football, cheer and dance organizations in the United States.
The organization is named in honor of legendary coach Glenn Scobey "Pop" Warner and has long emphasized the connection between athletics, academics and character.
Pop Warner's current mission centers on structured participation, safer and positive playing environments, teamwork, dedication, work ethic and academic success.

Maryland Pop Warner operates in alignment with Pop Warner's national mission:
"Helping young people benefit from team sports and activities in a structured environment while learning fundamental values, skills and knowledge that can serve them throughout life, with academic success as a central priority."

REGIONAL LEGACY
A Verified DC Championship Legacy
The Washington, D.C. Pop Warner tradition includes a documented four-year run of Division I national football champions from 2009 through 2012. That history reflects the strength, discipline and community investment that youth football has long represented in the region.
